To Haiti with Love was an online auction of art, photography, papercrafts, clothing, and creative goods. All proceeds go direct to the St. Joseph's Family of homes for children in Haiti.

The auction opened at 8 AM EST on Monday, February 1, 2010.

The auction closed at midnight EST on Monday, February 8, 2010.

Canadians can donate to St. Joseph's anytime through the online donation page of its Canadian fundraising organization, Broken Wings.

Americans can donate through the online donation page for Hearts with Haiti, the U.S. organization. Either way, your support builds hope.

Earthquake Devastates St. Joseph Home in Port au Prince

Broken Wings is the Canadian fundraising organization whose primary mission is to support the vision and ministry of the St. Joseph Family in Haiti, which includes the St. Joseph’s Home for Boys in Port-au Prince, Wings of Hope in Fermathe, and Trinity House in Jacmel.

Orphans caring for orphans: a beautiful story

St. Joseph’s Home for Boys was Michael Geilenfeld’s dream that became a reality in 1985, bringing boys off the streets of Port-au-Prince to provide them with a Christian home and family.

When French missionaries announced they were leaving Haiti and needed to find care for the disabled children under their supervision, Michael took some of the older boys from St. Joseph's to choose a child to bring home and care for. But the boys surprised Michael when they chose to adopt all the children. Wings of Hope had become a thriving home for disabled children, recently rebuilt and expanded to include a day school for disabled community children and lovely guest facilities.

poetry four-pack by marita dachsel

Poetry is perfect winter reading and this four-pack of writing by Canadian poet Marita Dachsel includes some very rare pieces of poetic ephemera.

All Things Said & Done ::: Marita Dachsel’s debut collection is a visceral exploration of the moments of life that stand out in the pages of a family album and the intervals of memory. She playfully and poignantly documents first crushes, first times, weddings and trips across town, across water, and across continents. A full length poetry book published in 2007 by Caitlin Press and shortlisted for the ReLit Award. It has been described by reviewers "a promising review".

 

Eliza Roxcy Snow  ::: A limited edition chapbook published by red nettle press about one of the more famous polygamous wives of Joseph Smith, the founder of the LDS Church. This long poem is part of a full-length manuscript, Glossolalia. You will receive a signed copy of number 8 of 100.

There were better times than these  ::: A limited edition broadsheet made for the Caledonia Writers' Series. This broadsheet was available for purchase only one night. Very rare! You will receive signed copy number 18 of 20.

Dispatches From An Impending Marriage ::: A beautiful limited edition broadsheet made by Greenboathouse Books as part of their Varient initiative which was never available for purchase, but given to subscribers to the press. You will receive signed copy number 19 of 100.

Marita Dachsel writes, mothers, and occasionally blogs in Edmonton, Alberta. Her first full-length book of poetry, All Things Said & Done, was shortlisted for a ReLit Award. She has been published widely in Canadian literary journals and is currently is finishing Glossolalia, a full-length poetry manuscript about the polygamous wives of Joseph Smith, founder of the LDS.
