Earthquake Devastates St. Joseph Home in Port au Prince

Broken Wings is the Canadian fundraising organization whose primary mission is to support the vision and ministry of the St. Joseph Family in Haiti, which includes the St. Joseph’s Home for Boys in Port-au Prince, Wings of Hope in Fermathe, and Trinity House in Jacmel.

Orphans caring for orphans: a beautiful story

St. Joseph’s Home for Boys was Michael Geilenfeld’s dream that became a reality in 1985, bringing boys off the streets of Port-au-Prince to provide them with a Christian home and family.

When French missionaries announced they were leaving Haiti and needed to find care for the disabled children under their supervision, Michael took some of the older boys from St. Joseph's to choose a child to bring home and care for. But the boys surprised Michael when they chose to adopt all the children. Wings of Hope had become a thriving home for disabled children, recently rebuilt and expanded to include a day school for disabled community children and lovely guest facilities.

how to bid

To place a bid, leave a comment below the item. Please leave a valid email address so that we can contact the winning bidder after the auction is over -- if the winning bid is submitted without a valid email address, we will have to award the item to the next reachable bidder.

Bidding starts at the minimum price set by contributors. Please bid in minimum increments of $1.00 or more.

All bids are in Canadian currency.  US and international donations will be converted to their equivalent in the corresponding currency.

If you win the bidding on an item, the artist/contributor will send you an invoice via Paypal with your total charges plus the cost of shipping, which they will determine based on your address. When they receive your payment and once shipping is covered, each contributor will donate the bid amount directly to Broken Wings Missions, Inc. or Hearts With Haiti.  Both registered charities directly support the St. Joseph's family of homes.

In order to help our Canadian contributors make the Canadian federal government deadline for fund-matching -- which is February 12, 2010 -- please send payment to the artist/contributor immediately upon being notified that you have won the item. The government's matching of each dollar donated by Canadian citizens will be added to the Canadian International Development Agency's Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.

Please note: your bid does not include shipping or possible duties for international items. The country of origin is included on every item listed so that if you are concerned about shipping/duties for international items, you can choose items from your own country.

Contributors will ship items to winning bidders after they receive full payment.

Thanks so much to everyone -- and good luck!
