to Haiti, with love in elizabeth steward williams, home decor, photography

"My friend Butch is a folk artist in south Alabama; a couple times a year I get to make my way down to a magical wonderland that is disguised as his farm. Out nestled in the woods he has sculpture after sculpture; beyond that are piles and piles of what some people might call 'junk' but we call 'treasures and materials'. I am a texture hound and there is a huge wealth of eye candy out in those piles of wonder. I especially love rust. I guess it's unusual to love rust, but I do. It's only doing its job, y'all." ~ Elizabeth Steward Williams

Elizabeth thinks art in all its glorious forms is not a luxury of the ruling class and it should be accessible to everyone everywhere all the dang time. Some of her favorite things are people who smell lovely, going junking, hearing laughter, the color orange and finding the adventure that exists in every moment. Elizabeth makes art that she hopes is thoughtful, gorgeous and functional, doesn't carry her camera with her enough, and is inspired by the kudzu-laced, ghost-infused beauty of the South. She has been known to write here and here, and you can find her spouting off on Twitter, too.
